Another celebration of life service for a parishioner this morning. At time like these especially, one has to stop and ponder about the essence of life. What is life about and why are we here?
Christian author Annie Dillard writes this, “The Old Testament Book of Micah answers the question of why we are here with another question: ‘And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.’ Annie continues in this poetic way:
“We are here to witness the creation and abet it. We are here to notice each thing so each thing gets noticed. Together we notice not only each mountain shadow and each stone on the beach but especially, we notice the beautiful faces and complex natures of each other. We are here to bring to consciousness the beauty and power that are around us and to praise the people who are here with us. We witness our generation and our times. We watch the weather. Otherwise, creation would be playing to an empty house.”

A new blog
Decided to start a new blog. Hoping to talk about life, theology, psychology, what I am learning along the way, questions (a bunch) that I still have. Wanted to start anew from my old blog: Les pensées de Catherine. Wanted to share the journée and hear from fellow travelers.
